Ortus is a leader in specialist Human Resources recruitment. We are one of the fastest growing specialists in this niche field and are growing internationally with offices in a number of markets including London, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
We recognise the strength of developing long-term relationships and the trust we build with our candidates and our clients. To do this requires integrity, intellect and a commitment to excellence. We have a thorough understanding of the market and evolving perceptions, resilience, a strong work ethic and of course strong interpersonal skills and complete discretion.
Our aim is to be the recruitment specialist of choice to the HR profession. We achieve this through offering greater expertise, sector specialism in addition to bespoke hiring solutions with a proactive but consultative approach.
Part of the FiveTen Group since January 2008, we have consistently expanded our portfolio of clients and significantly grown our share of the markets where we operate. Consultants across the globe within the FiveTen Group have far reaching networks of HR contacts, making HR the common dominator across the Group. This provides Ortus with an unprecedented resource to ensure we are able to offer clients access to the premium network of HR professionals in the industry.
We have enjoyed year on year growth, largely achieved by providing a higher quality service than our competitors. We really do focus on enhancing and developing careers rather than “filling assignments”. With a consistent aim to enjoy what we do, we work hard but try to have as much fun as possible.
It is our aim to create an engaging environment where high expectations are the norm and people feel enabled to meet both their career aspirations and personal goals.

Working in professional recruitment
In recent years, the professional recruitment industry has changed beyond all recognition and we have had to adapt accordingly. Client expectations have increased, the complexities of winning new business have changed, there is increased competition, employment legislation is ever evolving and there is a greater range of services and advice specialist recruiters have to provide.
A successful Recruitment Consultant needs to meet all these demands whilst working in a competitive market and goal-orientated environment. Professional recruitment is a challenging role that requires tenacity, commercial acumen and great time management. You need to be prepared to work hard, have a passion for people and their careers and be a natural networker.
If you have this mix, the financial rewards and job satisfaction can be substantial and unrivalled by many other careers.
What does a Consultant do?
Consultants work in individual business units, which in turn specialise in particular markets or professional HR disciplines. Each unit is led by a Managing Consultant, but an experienced Consultant enjoys considerable autonomy in their own area of expertise.
New Consultants will spend time familiarising themselves with a variety of markets before settling into their own niche. Promotion to Consultant and beyond is dependent upon individual performance and is often rapid, depending on ability.
Consultants will spend their time interviewing, short listing and selecting candidates for a variety of clients. We use the very latest technology so Consultants can identify the very best talent in the market to make selections for each assignment. This is highly skilled and you will be mentored by a Managing Consultant to help you develop to the requisite level.
All fee earners meet with new and existing clients regularly. Only through these meetings can we fully understand and assess requirements and build meaningful and lasting business relationships.
New candidates are sourced via extensive advertising and marketing, but it is a Consultant’s responsibility to assess each candidate’s strengths and to match these to a client’s requirements. This is done through a rigorous vetting process and thorough face-to-face interviewing.
International opportunities
As Ortus grows across international markets, opportunities will exist within our existing offices and into new territories. Over recent years, members of the London team have moved within the business to locations including Hong Kong and Singapore.
Training & Development
To enable your progression, we provide tailored training and development programmes to equip you with the experience you need to excel. With a dedicated in-house Training & Development Manager, we invest in a comprehensive range of courses and programmes using both internal and external resources.
What we look for
Typically, we look for commercial post-graduate experience from HR, recruitment, business development or account management. This is certainly not written in stone as we run a successful graduate programme and some of our best people have come from more diverse backgrounds.
Whether you are an experienced recruiter ready for a fresh environment, a HR professional seeking a new challenge or a fresh graduate looking for a place on our graduate programme, we would love to hear from you. Our only prerequisites at this initial stage are that you are of graduate calibre or equivalent, with a strong academic background and above all, have a genuine interest in people and their careers.
Reward & Recognition
At Ortus, we strongly believe in a meritocracy. We aim to reward all the values we endorse with industry-leading remuneration as well as whole range of other benefits that help create a modern working environment.
Benefits range from a best-in-class bonus structure and contemporary pensions salary sacrifice scheme through to flexitime, days off on your birthday, charity days and luxury conferences abroad.
